How I use 1 SMS to convert brand new leads to customers (and earn thousands in annuity income)

SMS is not dead…

And I can prove it.

In my own business I use a combination of email and SMS channels to drive new leads further down my funnel…

Here’s a real-life scenario:

In this past week I posted two videos (How to Autocapture and Respond to your Property24 leads and How to Create a Filter and Forward in Gmail to support your new automation)

Each of these videos were posted on Facebook in groups where my market engages…

And between the two of them I attracted 82 new leads into my funnel (and captured their contact information so that I could nurture them further…)

On sign up the first email was sent thanking them for signing up and calling them to book a slot in my calendar so that I can demo the Property Funnels CRM to them and show them just how powerful and relevant it is to their business (it’s the very same CRM I use for my own business)

This first email was opened by about 80% of new leads but only 1 booked in my calendar…

But not to fear because I have faith in SMS…

And thankfully so, because on day 2 an SMS was sent from Property Funnels to the lead reminding them that they can still book a slot in my calendar to check out Property Funnels.

This SMS is a beautiful thing: its delivery is almost guaranteed and open rates are huge (because people get fewer SMSes than they do emails, Messenger messages and Whatsapps).

15 new appointments booked for January 2021…and all before 2021 had even come around! What a way to start 2021!

My funnel is full up and the rest of my leads will receive at least two more messages relating directly to this offer (one email and one last SMS)…

Breaking the bank?

Cost-wise, email is practically free, but SMS is more expensive. Still, an SMS costs me about 40c (40c x 82 = R32,80)…

That’s around R33 spent on SMSes that could result in thousands of rand in annuity income for my business.

For a property professional like you, that cost of the SMS could be leveraged by many multiples of that SMS due to the high ticket item you are marketing and selling…

It’s a no brainer, really.

While everyone is looking to bright and shiny new marketing channels, the ‘ol SMS is not hampered by poor data connections, two-way authentication and competing with clogged up inboxes…

I love SMS because it’s immediate, underutilised and with a warm audience it feels personal and direct (without feeling as invasive as Messenger and Whatsapp).
