How to grow your email list on the cheap

I’m not a professional athlete in any major sporting codes…

But in the world of marketing…and in email marketing specifically…I am.

When you send an email to a friend or even to a potential customer, how long do you wait before you push “send”?

Do you:
A) hesitate?
B) reread the email twice before sending?
C) simply write, send and move on…?

I fall in the B camp…normally.

But when I am tasked with writing a marketing email on behalf of a client, and I’m given a list of 9,000 email addresses, I am a firm A. Like to the extreme.

The email is written, polished and laid out…

The database is clean, prepped and loaded…

And all I have to do is hit “send”.

Instead…I procrastinate.

I go make a cup of coffee…

Sit down and read the email again…

Run through my checks…

All the while the send button waits for me to act.

I get up and go to the bathroom…

Or go chat to a colleague…

Or distract myself on Facebook.

There is definitely a mental game needed when sending to a large email list…

Like a professional athlete, the moment to perform hits you like a ton of bricks and you just enter a zone of clarity and certainty…

The button is pressed and the emails fly out my fibre line and into the cloud, searching for their targets…

Delivered.

Opened.

Clicked.

Sale.

It’s beautiful.

It works every time too.
